2010 Christmas Party!

Thanks to all those who joined the NSDSS Christmas Party at St. Benedict's Church!

NSDSS Walk with Friends 2010!
On October 23, members of NSDSS met at Victoria Park to walk around the Halifax Public Gardens as part of our annual fundraiser and awareness event.
Some members continued the walk down Spring Garden road to the Halifax Public Library where they constructed pumpkin people with the libaray staff as part of a community awarenss project.

Winter 2009 Buddy Walk
November 7, 2009

Thank you to all the families and supporters of NSDSS who came out on a very cold, but sunny morning to participate in our annual Buddy Walk - a fundraiser and awareness event during National Down Syndrome week!

Stay tuned for plans for a Spring NSDSS Parade in downtown Halifax!

Winter 2008

We were fortunate to have a beautiful, sunny fall day for the 4th Annual NSDSS Buddy Walk.  We had over 85 people attend the walk – the children enjoyed the balloon art and entertainment of Milo the Clown and, of course, the police horses, Cruise and Sarge were a highlight to the day as well!  Many thanks to all of our friends and families who fundraised, and a special thanks to the Clearwater Retail store and staff who held a BBQ to raise funds for the NSDSS Buddy Walk.

Happy New Year a big THANK YOU to our board, members, volunteers, sponsors and donors. With your help 2007 turned out to be a year of many exciting new projects and events. It was the start of a new teen and adult group 'Team Possibles', toddler music program, many educational workshops, successful fundraisers and media attention. 2007 was also the year that Nova Scotia started to offer prenatal screening for conditions such as Down syndrome, to all pregnant women, and that NSDSS advocated strongly for fair and balanced information for these prospective parents. This goal will remain high on our priority list for 2008!
- - - SHOW - - - FOR THE HEALTH OF IT - - - FUNDRAISER - - -

November 24th, at the Rebecca Cohn, Dalhousie Health Sciences students have again put on an amazing show. The show was funny, original and performed by extremely talented people. Clearly many hours have gone into the preparation of the show. NSDSS was lucky enough to be this year's chosen benefactor, and all funds raised -and that is no small business- will benefit our society.

We would like to thank all students, volunteers, sponsors and everyone else who generously donated time, money or talent and helped put on this fabulous show.
We would especially like to thank the steering committee, including Trina Mader, who put our society forward. And a special thanks goes to Logan, Karsen, Max and Alison, who came on stage to show and tell an audience of 700 people what it's like to have Down syndrome!

Buddy Walk 2007

Thanks everyone who braved 'Noel' to celebrate Down syndrome on our wet, windy but successful 3rd annual Buddy Walk!

The Christmas 2007 Musical Munchkins Concert by members of the Symphony Nova Scotia and members of the Nova Scotia Down Syndrome Society was an overwhelming succes. We would like to thank the SNS for providing us with this unforgettable musical experience.
